Memorial HoopsFest makes a comeback

After a six-year hiatus, the 3v3 Memorial HoopsFest Tournament returns to Geick Park this Saturday celebrating sportsmanship, comradery and town pride. Help make HoopsFest a slam dunk while cheering on local youths and adults playing basketball for trophies and fundraising. Forging new friendships, free food and drinks, vendors, raffles and prizes will grace the day. Spectators also have the park's usual amenities throughout the day, including the volleyball courts that will be open to the public. "This year we honor the legacy of the community," said Ian Daley, founder and director of HoopsFest. "People can show up as spectators, support the players and, if they want, make donations," he said. Tournament entry fees go toward the Jude & Zachary Foundation's scholarship fund, a 501(c)(3) honoring the legacy of a father and son whose lives continue to inspire the community, according to Daley. The foundation awards scholarships to student athletes selected by their coaches and community leaders based on Photo By of Ian Daley Former HoopsFest players enjoy the spirited competition.
